La Excursión de las niñas muertas 2024

A project of Netty Radvanyi and Micaela Gramajo

A collaboration of Ohtli Production A.C., the patronato de la Industria Alemana para la Cultura A.C. and the Museo Universitario del Chopo.

The excursion of the dead girls is a play based on an account written by the German author Anna Seghers in 1943, during his exile in Mexico, after recovering from a coma resulting from a car accident. The text is a reflection against the horrors of wars and fascism. A piece that also dialogues with the atrocities of the present.

In a febrile delirium, the author returns to her childhood to fulfill a postponed task: the review of a school boat trip on the Rhine, in Mainz, her hometown. The story is a journey from Mexico to Germany jumping at different times. In 1914, she presents the girls of her class, her best childhood friends and teachers in the past, while taking us to her present, in 1942, to show the outcome of these little ones in the coming wars and, mainly, with the advent of Nazism.

The narrator of this scenic piece, Netty Radvanyi, great-granddaughter of Anna Seghers, and those who are part of the project will make a tour through the spaces of an old house in the colony Santa María la Ribera to transit through the traces of memory and destiny.
